Negative Effects of Bacteria

There are many different types of bacteria that can live in your mouth at any given time. A lot of them can cause serious problems. Read below to stay informed on some of those issues that can form.

1. TISSUE LOSS- Bacteria can get under your gums and can spread fast. Once under your gums, the bacteria cause more damage to very important structures, like your bone. This process can quickly become a problem that should be examined and resolved.

2. LOSS OF TEETH- If the bacteria affect enough of the tissue and surrounding structures, teeth may begin to get loose. Obviously you would want to catch this problem before it comes to this, but if this is happening, it is imperative to contact your dentist immediately for treatment options and the possibility of extraction.

3. PAIN- with bacterial literally eating away at your mouth, it is not uncommon to experience pain while eating or clenching your teeth. If you are consistently experiencing sharp pain while eating in a localized spot, you my have a bacterial infection causing a problem.
